With pre-season underway in the new Formula One season, Pirelli also had their first official test of 2011 with the teams as last year they were made the exclusive tyre supplier to F1 teams. It has recently been annouced by tyre market research specialists, Encircle Marketing, that Pirelli tyres are the most recommended brand in 2010. By continuously monitoring brand recommendations, it found that Pirelli came top with 8% of all recommendations. This was up by almost half a point on its previous 2009 performance. Now that Pirelli have settled into the role of the official tyre supplier for Formula One, with tyre testing already beginning for the new F1 season, it appears they have withdrawn from the World Rally Championships with their three-year contract ending after the 2010 season.
