South Manchester Tyre fire

15 September 2010 1,086 views No Comment

Earlier this week in Levenshulme, South Manchester, saw a widespread traffic disruption as a tyre recycling depot caught on fire. Police believe this may have been started by arsonists.

The tyre factory saw a huge fire which is said to have destroyed hundreds of tyres, taking over 40 fire-fighters using specialist equipment to tackle the flames.

As the tyres slowly burned, it caused a huge amount of black smoke covering the area, with police advising windows to be kept shut.

Here are further reports with photos and videos of what occurred.
