Guideline on where to buy tyres online
A recent press release issued by the online retailer Tyre Shopper, gave the advice that many people may buy tyres as a “distressed purchase” and therefore will be seeking value for money. Given the financial uncertainties in the current economic climate, this will likely have increased the amount of research being conducted into tyre purchases. It’s agreed by many industry sources that tyre retailers have seen growth in this area.
Where to purchase tyres from?
What are the options for consumers when wanting to research tyre prices? Of course online is a big one, as you sit in the comfort of your own home. There are a number of places to buy tyres online, just search for tyres on Google and there will be a number of big tyre sellers listed.
Increased online accessibility for tyre prices
Whilst there has been growth in this sector, there is no doubt this has also come from increased online marketing and providing the ability to look for tyres. For instance, one major UK retailer recently formed a partnership with eBay, creating the National Tyres eBay outlet store.
Michael Bourne, Group Marketing Director, National Tyres and Autocare, commented:
“We are always looking at innovative ways to reach new markets. Our research found that traditional eBay customers were unlikely to consider high street retailers for their tyre purchases, assuming prices to be uncompetitive.
By bringing our proposition directly to this customer base, we have proven that there is a market for competitively priced new tyres coupled with the convenience of a nationwide fitting network and the outstanding customer service you’d expect from a trusted national brand.”

There has also been an increase in other initiatives with many tyre fitter and retailers using social media, whilst websites like www.tyrepriceadvisor.co.uk set up to be a UK independent Tyre Price Comparison Website with a growing number of partners. Which Magazine also have their own version for this advising on recommended tyre prices.
Tyre Buying Guidelines
As consumers start to look online for tyre suppliers, there is still a need to follow guidelines and ensure compliance with any legal requirements e.g. tread depth, sidewall markings, speed ratings etc. The penalty for illegal tyres is currently up to a £2500 fine and 3 penalty points.
If you happen to know particular places where you can research into buying tyres online please comment below, I may look back and include it into the post.
